19th July - 15th August. Exhibition of paintings by local artist, Marion Shave. The Exchange Gallery in Saffron Walden Library.
Marion Shave of Arkesden will be exhibiting her watercolour and mixed-media paintings at Saffron Walden Library from Monday 19th July.
Since winning the Anglia Water watercolour exhibition in 2008, Marion has developed her technique and is enjoying success in both exhibitions and special commissions.
Her Saffron Walden exhibition concentrates mainly on the varied and beautiful landscapes of this verdant corner of N.W. Essex. Her light and delicate touch is always evident, especially in her portrayal of the various seasons, whether it is the bluebells of spring, the outrageous poppies of summer, or the snow-covered winter fields. As well as local scenes, Marion loves to paint seascapes, especially the coves and rugged coastlines of Devon and Cornwall where the light is so distinctive. There are also examples further afield in Tuscany and Umbria where mountains form a beautiful backcloth to a magnificent panoply of wild flowers.
“I get my inspiration from the beauty of nature”, Marion said. “There is nothing so satisfying than sitting in a field or wood and attempting to transfer the visual experience on to paper.”
